Head Coach Greg McCall

Greg McCall enters his eighth season as the head women’s basketball coach at CSU Bakersfield with a 106-107 (.497) career win-loss record.

In 2017-18, McCall's Roadrunners posted a 10-4 record in conference play for the second-straight season and was one win away from claiming the Western Athletic Conference regular-season title. The team entered the 2017-18 WAC Tournament as the No. 2 seed for the third-time in program history. CSUB reached the tournament finals for the first time but dropped a closely-contested game to Seattle U. McCall’s team hosted the first round of the WBI, its third postseason appearance in five years. The 18-14 overall record is the team's best finish since 2014-15.

After a slow start, the Roadrunners tied for second in the Western Athletic Conference with a 10-4 record. CSUB improved their overall record by five games to 15-14 in 2016-17.

Playing a tough schedule that featured five teams that finished the 2015-16 season in the top 25, the Roadrunners went 12-19 and returned to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament for the third consecutive season.

McCall led the Roadrunners back to the WNIT in 2014-15 as CSUB won a Division I school record 23 games (23-9). The Roadrunners finished second in the Western Athletic Conference for the second consecutive season.

In year three, McCall led the Roadrunners to a 19-12 mark, a second place finish in the Western Athletic Conference, and an appearance in the 2014 WNIT.

Limited at times to just six players during his first campaign, the Roadrunners continued to compete, winning two of their final four games to finish the 2011-12 campaign with a 7-22 record. CSUB improved to 12-17 in year two, winning a school Division I record nine consecutive games at one point.

McCall won his 50th career game at CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 10, 2015 when the ‘Runners defeated Grand Canyon 90-67 and his 100th career win at UMKC on Feb. 3 with a 76-62 victory. McCall has led CSUB to a 51-21 record in WAC play since joining the league. McCall is 106-107 as Bakersfield’s head coach.

Prior to becoming head coach, McCall spent the previous four seasons as an assistant for the women's basketball team at CSUB helping guide the Roadrunners to a pair of postseason appearances including a 22-12 record in 2011. He was instrumental in recruiting student-athletes for the ‘Runners, along with scouting, game planning and player development.

This is McCall’s second stint as a head coach, as he previously led nearby Taft College for 10 seasons (1997-2007), helping restart the Cougars’ women’s basketball program and successfully leading them into the CCCAA Tournament. He won 98 games at Taft.

He began his coaching career at CSUB under Pat Douglass, winning a NCAA Division II National Championship in 1997. He also played for Douglass and was a team captain on the Roadrunners’ 1991 Division II Final Four team.

Greg and his wife Tanae have a daughter, Chloe. McCall has three other children. His oldest daughter, Dewanna, was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the first round of the 2009 WNBA draft with the fifth overall pick after a standout career at Auburn (2006-09).

Daughter Erica led Stanford to the 2017 Final Four before being taken in the second round (17th overall) of the WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever.

Son Justin became a member of the CSUB men's basketball team in the Fall of 2017. Daughter Cheyenne is a nursing major while son Chaun is one of the top freshman basketball players in the city of Bakersfield.
